UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT
FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

CONCEPCION PICCIOTTO, et al.,
             Plaintiffs,

     v.
                              Civil Action No. 87-3290 LFO

DONALD HODEL, et al., Defendants.

MOTION FOR ENLARGEMENT OF TIME

Defendants, by an through their unersigned counsel hereby move pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 6(b), for an enlargement of time of one week, to and including December 21, 1987, within which to oppose plaintiffs' motion for preliminary injunction. It appears to defendants that the injunctive relief sought by the Complaint is now moot since General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev has left the United States. Accordingly, defendants intend to file a Motion to dismiss asserting mootness and comprising therein their arguments as to why a preliminary injunction should be denied. Due to the press of other deadlines in other cases, however, defendants have thus far been unable to complete that motion. This enlargement should not harm plaintiffs in any way.

Wherefore, defendants urge the Court to grant the requested enlargement an sign the Order in the form attached.

Respectfully submitted,

JOSEPH E. DIGENOVA, DC Bar #073320
United States Attorney
