Some parkland surrounding the White House will be temporarily closed to the public. Specifically, from 6:00 a.m. April 15, 2000 though 6:00 a.m. April 18, 2000, the White House Pennsylvania Avenue sidewalk, the western portion of Lafayette Park, East Executive Avenue, Sherman Park, the First Division Memorial, portions of the Ellipse, and the White House E Street sidewalk will be closed. A map illustrating the closed and open areas are identified on the reverse of this notice.
These park areas will be closed to the public for security reasons during the World Bank-IMF joint meetings. The District of Columbia will also be closing other adjacent public sidewalks and streets surrounding the White House that is under their jurisdiction.
Persons demonstrating or otherwise using these park areas should remove themselves and any personal property from the closed park areas by 6:00 a.m. April 15, 2000. The National Park Service appreciates the public's cooperation in this matter.
