THE CALL TO ACTION
"We need a new movement that is too
big and wide to be called a peace
movement. What we need is a mass grab
for the biggest possible Peace
Dividend and a mandate for real
conversion. Conversion is too
important to be left to politicians."
-- Seymour Melman, National
Commission for Economic Conversion
and Disarmament.
Historically arms "reduction" has
actually meant arms "modernization."
Arms "reduction" is not elimination.
Recent reductions of certain classes
of nuclear weapons is a step in the
right direction, but only a
beginning. Proposition One is the
logical next step.
PROPOSITION ONE IS THE VEHICLE!
With your help Proposition One can
move us all closer to Peace on Earth.
To encourage legislators to vote for the "Nuclear
Disarmament and Economic Conversion Act,"
help bring Proposition One to the
voters as an initiative in your
neighborhood. We did it in D.C. We can and
should do it wherever people care.
Initiatives are the only direct
method for voters to make law. While
traditional means of protest are
often ignored, initiatives have
historically engaged the attention of
lawmakers, press, and public.
- INITIATIVES EMPOWER PEOPLE.
- INITIATIVES PROVOKE CHANGE.
