A group of Vietnam War veterans plans to march from the Iwo Jima Memorial to the Lincoln Memorial grounds today to protest what they see as a lack of government movement in bringing home prisoners of war and those missing in action in Vietnam.

The core group, known as the Last Patrol, will begin congregating at the Iwo Jima Memorial at noon, with the march beginning at 2 p.m. Marchers will proceed down Fort Myer Drive and along a bike trail on the south side of Rte. 110. The group will then march along Memorial Avenue and cross Memorial Bridge before heading to the Lincoln Memorial grounds, according to U.S. Park Police, who said a permit for 1,000 marchers has been issued.
