Thanks for the petition. Enclosed is an update.

There are Gathering sites in Kentucky and Alabama. There are numerous RUMORS about both sites. Legaliaison/DC is not concerned with the site of the Gathering, but only with the promulgation of the proposed Forest Service regulations.

This is not the first time that the bureaucracy has attempted to pass this regulation, and unless they are successful, this will not be the last time.

WRITING LETTERS AND SIGNING PETITIONS IS THE LEAST THAT PEOPLE CAN DO. PEOPLE ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THE FREEDOM OF BELIEF, EXPRESSION AND ASSEMBLY COUNCIL, IN D.C., BEGINNING DURING THE 2ND WEEK IN JULY.

The purpose of this Council will be to formulate and carryout actions to focus public attention on this regulation, and whatever other ideas might come up.

Kathryn Way of President Clinton's domestic policy staff has tentatively agreed to a meeting with interested parties and representatives of the Forest Service on July 21st.

If you are representing a sizable group, perhaps your group would be interested in sending a representative to this meeting.
