DAVY CROCKETT, PROMOTING THE MOVEMENT

Thomas called David and told him Dr. Khan advised against organizing a grassroots movement, and preferred to go through the regular channels. David voiced his distrust of the regular channels. Thomas agreed, observing that he didn't understand how a grassroots movement might do anything but strengthen Dr. Khan's efforts.

David confided that he had been participating in an online discussion group, renergy@lists.kz, and that the participants in the group were planning a March For Peaceful Energy, scheduled to be held in D.C. on October 24, 1998.

According to David the MFPE people were a cohesive group of thoughtful youngsters, who were articulate, fervent in their desire for a new energy system, and in agreement with his own perceptions. David sent Thomas a draft of "Support Resolution for a Citizen's Peaceful Energy Plan," with which, he indicated the entire group was pleased.
