ORDER
Upon oonsideratiun of the Federal defendants' Motion for
Protective Order, filed July 18, 1986, the plaintiff's reply
filed July 30, 1986, the plaintiff's supplement to plaintiff's
reply, filed July 31, 1986, the Court's Memorandum and Pretrial
Order, filed June 5, 1986, and the entire record, it is now
hereby this 1st day of August, 1986,
ORDERED that the Motion for Protective Order be and is bereby
GRANTED, in part, and DENIED, in part, in that Manus Fish,
Richard Robbins, Patricia Bangert shall be made available for
deposition during the discovery period at a date to be scheduled,
but the Protective Order is granted as to James C. Lindsey, Jerry
Parr, James Watt, William Clark, Donald Hodel, Robert Bedell and
Lieutenant Merillat (now located in the Park Service's San
Francisco regional office); and it is furtber,
ORDERED that the deposition of Mr. A. C. Thomas can be
scheduled for some date after August 11, 1986: and it is further,
ORDERED that as to the depositions of Manus Fish, Richard
Robins and Patricia Bangert the scope of the depositions may
include their personal knowledge, if any, of plaintiff's arrests
and other incidents directly involving him and whether the
adoption of the park regulations was or was not an act in

furtherance of any conspiracy to violate plaintiff's civil
rights, specifically whether they are modified or narrowed
specificdlly to prohibit his type of activities or to prohibit
such activities as engaged in by him by anyone and even if they
are so modified or narrowed, whether there was any motive or
intent by them to violate his or anyone's First Amendment rights
or any otber civil rights of any person; and it is further,
ORDERED that in order to accomplish the above described
discovery and whatever further document productian that may be
requied pursuant to the plaintiff's several requests for
expedited production of documents of July 30, 1986 and to allow
time to resolve the scope thereof, the discovery completion
deadline is hereby extended to August 30, 1986, but this in no
wav extends any of the other deadlines established by the Court,
including the date of August 22, 1986 for the submission of
dispositive motions.
